Charles Darwin could not understand why peacocks had kept their beautiful tails when they appeared to hinder movement. Over time, he discovered that the more striking and full of “eyes” the tail was, the more attractive the peacock was to females, thus ensuring survival.
Humans seem to love having beautiful creatures in their possession, as if this makes them classier and more elegant. In truth, most peacock “owners” are not beautiful on the outside or inside. At least the ones we have come across.
Our first peacocks were María and Niels, named after a charming couple we met when we were starting out and who advised us to always act with love.
There are a lot of peacocks living at our shelter, please sponsor them and come for a visit. You will be able to watch them running around happily.
