There are few horses as noble as our beloved mare Lluvia.
When we found her, she was merely a year old and tied to a lamppost. Her forelegs were deformed from the metal rope that had been tied around them for almost all of her short life. She let us stroke her without fear, despite the pouring rain that was making us all very nervous.
Sadly, two of her companions had been tied up closer to the river and they were not as lucky as her. The firefighters tried everything but were unable to save them.
Lluvia was operated on at Aznalcóllar Equine Hospital, thanks to the generosity of the hospital’s owners and the TV programme “Animales en Familia” (Animals in the Family). Their crew accompanied us the whole time as they wanted to teach people about the consequences of abuse and neglect.
The vets explained that if she had had orthopaedic shoeing and been better looked after when she was younger, she would not have needed an operation. However, owners are often unwilling to spend even fifty euros on treatment that could save their horse’s life.
Please sponsor Lluvia. By helping us, you can save a sick animal who would otherwise not get a second chance at life.
