Valerosa is without doubt a valorous mare.

She is very tough, even gruff at times. Her body still suffers from the effects of her abuse. Her eyes are grey because she can hardly see. Her reactions can be violent but we do not judge her.

In fact, we cannot even put ourselves in her shoes. When we rescued her, she was pregnant. There are mares that dealers use for breeding over and over again and Valerosa was one of these.

Some dealers are so cruel and they do not even ensure the mares have a decent quality of life when they are in foal. As they have told us many times: “They are merely ‘products’ and if they die along the way, we have many more.”

Every Horse in the World has spent years fighting to stop these wonderful creatures being considered as products. Horses have accompanied us throughout our lives, throughout history, they have helped us evolve as a society and, if we let them, they can become our best friends.
